Romans 12:19(NASB) "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord."I could feel it building inside, I wanted it to happen and yet I knew that wasn't the right thing to do but more importantly it wasn't the Godly thing to do! Today we learn a verse on vengeance and revenge, you know getting back at those who do us harm. It simply states to let God do that - much easier said than tone. There is something with us that wants to hit back, hurt those who hurt us, cause others the pain that they cause us, but that's not His Way! When we accept Christ, we need to accept all of Him, even the parts we struggle with like revenge. Having experienced pain caused by a neighbor, I wanted to get even - funny how we say it's getting even when really there's nothing even about it! God's Word says to pray for our enemies, that's probably the best way to get even! I am always reminded of how Jesus handled those who hurt Him, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do!" Best motto for us to hold on to when we want to get even but makes us a little "odd" from the world! peace, tom
