1 Thessalonians 4:4(ESV) "that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,"As I put the bit into his mouth and climbed upon his back, grabbing the reins, I began to control him! There is something unexplainable about riding a horse. How just a gently pull on the reins will make him go in the direction you want. Today's verse is an instruction about how to live in holiness and honor! Whether I am riding a horse or driving a boat, keeping control over the reins or the rudder can make the difference between a wonderful adventure or a disastrous ride. Controlling our own bodies can be the same way. If we let others lead us, control us, we can head into some pretty bad situations but if we take control of our own bodies, we can walk in holiness and honor to God. The key is who are we giving that control to? Let today be the day we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in controlling our life, our speech, our actions and we will bring God the honor!
