Luke 21:36 ESV "But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."It could have been much worse! Today we are told to stay awake at all times and pray that we have the strength to escape the things that are going to take place. It was many years ago when I was young and foolish, that I took a ride when I was exhausted and needed to sleep. I was on my way home from a long weekend when all of a sudden I heard a thumping on my vehicle. No sooner did I realized that I had fallen asleep and was running along the side of the road and hitting the side markers. Realizing what had happened, I pulled over and slept. We need to use wisdom and realize that we need to be aware of our energy level and when it gets low, we need to rest and recharge. There are things that are going to take place where we will need the Lord's Strength to get us through so let's stay awake and be alert rather than cause damage by our tiredness! peace, tom

1 Thessalonians 5:14 ESV "And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle..."We hadn't started it up for awhile! Today's verse shares with us to urge others to not be idle! It had sat for too long without getting started up so when we finally got it started, there were alarm bells ringing! With such busy schedule, my wife hadn't had time to go out on our boat and when we did, the seaweed and scum had grown to where it clogged the motor and began to ring the safety alarm, telling us that not enough water was getting in to cool the motor. If we keep running the motor without cleaning out the seaweed, we would have overheated the engine! When we sit idle for too long, we run the risk of not working as we should. Let's keep moving forward in Christ so that the scum of the earth never clogs us up! peace, tom
1 Corinthians 15:52 NASB "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."And just like that, it's August! Today's Word speaks of how Christ will return in the twinkling of an eye! It's almost like I blinked and we are in a new month and I can't believe how fast time flies. I had plans to do this and that as the summer months began but now that it's almost over, I look back and wish I had done more. Life goes fast and it seems the older we get the faster it goes. I have watched our grandchildren grow like weeds and remember the day when each of them were born. Don't let life sneak by us! Take each day and make it better than the day before and that means making sure we are ready for Christ's Return, for it will happen in the twinkling of an eye! peace, tom
