Romans 10:17 NASB "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."To be honest, all this mask wearing has been a struggle!! Having severe hearing loss means that I read lips more than I hear and with the masks on each other, it has been almost impossible to "hear" others! Today's verse shares about our faith and that comes from hearing and the hearing we listen to is the Word of Christ! I thank God that I don't have to hear His Actual Voice to know the words of His Son Jesus Christ, I have my Bible for that and the inner voice of the Holy Spirit but when it comes to hearing others, there's a good chance I'm getting it wrong. I couldn't help but think of all the "masks" we put on to cause us not to hear His Word. Masks like denial, un-forgiveness, revenge, pain, laziness, etc., they can and will cause us not to hear His Word. Maybe it's time we take off the masks and grow our faith by really hearing His Word but that means we need to be listening... the question is, are we?! peace, tom

3 John 1:3 NASB "For I was overjoyed when brothers came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth."Sharing a cup of coffee with an old friend, the subject came up about a friend of ours who had struggled with pornography. He had chosen to go into a christian rehab center many miles away. When I asked about him, the reply was that his life had turned around and he and his family were doing very well and serving the Lord! Today's Word shares about the reaction when others came and reported about a man's walk in life and how he was walking in the Truth! The question for us today is what are people saying when our name is brought up in conversations?! Do they say we are walking in the Truth or would they be skeptical in sharing where we are walking these days. Let's walk in His Truth so no one has to lie about where we are in life! peace, tom
Psalm 78:72 NASB "So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart,
And guided them with his skillful hands."It was almost like having a flashback to when I was a young boy! Babysitting my two grandsons, I found myself guiding them so that they wouldn't get hurt. Whether it was holding the one, or gently guiding the other around the table as we played chase, I made sure we didn't get into trouble! Today's Word shares about being shepherded and guided by skillful hands! If you ever meet my dad, you will see that his hands are "bear claws", exceptionally large and strong, but he gently guided my life as I grew up, even using them to share discipline when needed. His gentle guiding was because of the integrity of his heart! I think his heart is bigger than his hands! God's heart and hands are enormous and wants nothing more than to guide us in our walk on this earth, the key is whether we accept His Guidance and follow where He leads. The question is...Who is shepherding us in our walk, I pray it's God the Father through the Holy Spirit and other godly men?! peace, tom |
