Psalm 34:4 (NASB) "I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears."Nothing stops your heart faster than the fear that can come when things go wrong! While shopping with one of our daughters many years ago, I lost her! She was there one minute and the next gone! Today's verse talks to us about fear and where to turn when we are overcome with fear! The minutes ticked by like hours as I began to pray and search for her, and then, as if nothing was wrong, she popped out from under one of the clothing racks with a big smile on her face. I remember thanking God that she was ok and that I was ok. I remember sharing the story with my father who said "you can't let them out of your sight for a moment!" Thank God that HE never lets us out of His Sight for a moment and that we can call on Him in a moments notice. With the recent illness going around, maybe we should be calling out to God so He can rest all our fears! Something to think about as we do this thing called life! peace, tom

Luke 10:33 (NASB) "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion,"They are all around but we never see them until it's time for them to help and maybe we are one of them too! During a recent family accident, they came, people who stopped along their busy days to lend a hand! Today's verse speaks of a Samaritan who on a journey stopped and help because he felt compassion! We have all heard the story about the Good Samaritan but I wonder if we know that Samaritans, at that time, were considered enemies?! Sometimes it can be your enemy that comes to help you in your time of need and I wonder as I pondered those who came to help in our situation, if we would do the same. I like to think that because we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we too would stop and help because of compassion. Maybe we need to re-read the story in His Word and examine our own lives, cause I know someone out there will stop and help us all because of compassion but will we?! peace, tom
Matthew 6:16 (NASB) "“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full."I was told that I wear my heart on my sleeve, I wasn't sure if that was good thing or not! Today's verse speaks to us about fasting, and how we are to "look" as we fast. I had come upon a terrible scene as we responded to a motor vehicle accident. There was loss of life and others injured severely. After we did what we could, we began to walk back to the fire engine and I began to shed a few tears. The loss of life and the injuries had gotten to me as I reflected upon the scene. Sometimes it's ok to let others know what you're going through but when it comes to fasting, we should fast unto the Lord, not man! Fasting at this time of the year shouldn't become a badge that we wear on our chest but upon our hearts in offering it up to the Lord! No gloomy faces but open hearts as we fast! peace, tom
