Today 9-5-2025

John 1:5 ESV "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."No matter how long it took! Today's Word, while simple, speaks volumes about the darkness not overcoming the Light! It may have taken longer than we thought, it may have been exhausting but putting out house fires, building fires, grass fires was what we were called to do.While my time on the Fire Department, I had seen the darkness but we never let the darkness overcome our job of putting out the fire. In life, we may face darkness of a different kind, the darkness of loneliness, of feeling we aren't understood or accepted. Jesus is the Light of the World and when we have Him, we don't have to let the darkness of the world overcome us. I know, easier said than done but why not give the Light of Christ an opportunity to shine in us and through us - we may just dispel the darkness. Let the Light shine, for someone we know is walking in the darkness and needs us to shine brightly! peace, tom
