Romans 8:18 NASB "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us."It won't last forever! Today's verse speaks to us about our sufferings and pain and how it's not even close to the glory we will see one day. Some one asked me recently if I ever have a bad day. My answer was "more than you think". We all have bad days, when the pain of life can get us down, get us to not want to move forward or even try. But if we keep our eyes focused on His Light at the end of the tunnel, we can get past the pain. Keeping focus on His Light, may not take the pain away but it will help us focus on moving forward. For the one who is struggling today, look to Jesus and He will give us the strength to get through it - no matter what! peace, tom

Philippians 2:4 NASB "do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." He cared enough to see if I needed help! Today's Word is simply about helping others! The tire had gone flat on my vehicle and as I pulled over to the side of the road, he pulled behind me and asked a simple question "Did I need any help?!" - I thanked him for his offer but said I was ok, and yet he stayed until I had replaced the tire and went on my way. A simple act of kindness, a gesture of selfless care can make the difference in a person's life. We never know who is struggling but we can agree we all need a little help from time to time. Let's not be so caught up in us, that we miss the opportunity to help - yes even a stranger! Let's keep our eyes open to see where we can help! peace, tom
Isaiah 43:19 NASB "Behold, I am going to do something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it?"They may be right in front of us and if we aren't looking, we may miss them! Today's Word speaks of something new coming and to be aware of it. For the last nine months, we have been waiting, waiting for our next grandchild to be born. The signs were obvious as our daughter began to carry the miracle of life within her. This new thing is easy to see but somethings the Lord brings to our path, we miss because we aren't looking for the opportunities. Like the homeless needing a hand, a single mom looking for a little help, someone struggling to carry their packages, the list could go on and on - if we aren't looking for the new opportunity, it may just pass us by. Let's keep a watchful eye open even if it lasts nine months! peace, tom
Proverbs 1:8 NASB "Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, And do not ignore your mother’s teaching;"Just because they are gone, doesn't mean I can't hear them! Today's Word teaches us to listen to those who have taught us. Both my parents have passed on to glory and yet I can still hear their lessons in life. I find myself reliving what they taught me along the way. I even find myself teaching the lessons to my children and grandchildren. Listening and remembering the lessons we have been taught is always a good thing. The key is to not ignore their teachings - and the Bible is a great place to learn lessons of life. It teaches us things to do and things not to do, but we must be willing to learn and remember. We must hold on to what we have been taught and share those things with others! peace, tom
Psalm 147:3 NASB "He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds."Today's verse speaks to those who are brokenhearted - He will bind up their wounds! It's a day to remember, to pray for the families who have lost a son or daughter, in the fight for freedom. An opportunity to remember the lives of those who have given the greatest sacrifice for the cause of freedom. I have heard many stories of those who gave their lives in our military, and each one has the same outcome, there are those family members who grieve the loss of life. Today is a day to remember them, to pray for those families who have lost a loved one. Take a moment and pray, better yet, thank the family of those we know who have given their lives for our freedom. Stop by a cemetery and see all the flags laid upon the graves of those who have given their lives for our freedom and say "thank-you"! peace, tom
Philippians 1:3 NASB "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,"I can still remember! Today's verse is about memories and what we hold dear in our hearts! As I drove by my old fire house, I began to remember. The men who I worked with, the fires we fought together, the battles against the flames, the people we helped along the way and I got this warm feeling deep inside. Then came the memories of those we lost along the way, the people we didn't get out in time, the ones who's life ended too short and the pain began to grow. I had to dismiss the pain and know that we did our best but fell short a few times. Memories can bring that warm feeling or that sad feeling depending on what we remember. We have a choice as we live this life, build good memories or sad ones, but they will all be remembered - so let's make good memories by sharing the love of Jesus with all we meet! peace, tom
Matthew 6:15 NASB "But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses."It was harder than I thought! Today's Words speaks of forgiveness and how we will be forgiven or not! It was one thing to forgive and another to forget it but when it's a heartfelt forgiveness, it brings a newness to life. The biggest problem I had was forgiving myself. I kept the guilt, the internal punishment for too long. Having hurt those I loved, kept the pain longer. Once forgiven by them, I needed to forgive myself. Satan keeps it alive within us with lies that we somehow are not worth the forgiveness but nothing can be further from the Truth. When forgiven, we must forgive ourselves as well - the only way to move on to new life in forgiveness! Forgive ourselves because of what Jesus did on the Cross and stop carrying the guilt! peace, tom
Romans 14:1 NASB "Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not to have quarrels over opinions." I was there once! Today's Word speaks about accepting others and not judging them! As I sat in my first ever Bible Study, I was amazed at the knowledge these guys had. I could hardly find the Book in the Bible they were reading from. i had my opinions about God and His Word but no one put me down, they listened, helped me understand a few things and welcomed me as if I had been going for years. Sadly, one of the worst witnesses of Jesus Christ is the Christian who has this idea that they are some how better than others. It keeps people from coming to learn more about Jesus. As today's verse states, accept them and don't fight over opinions - let God's Word be our guide! peace, Tom
1 John 3:17 NASB "But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him?"I was taught to help! Today's verse, while it may be difficult to read, speaks volumes about greed. My parents taught me to help, no matter what, no matter where. They didn't just say the words "go help", they lived them. Time after time growing up, I seen my parents help those in need. Whether it was a financial blessing, or an article of clothing, or simply a hand on a shoulder, they were there. I learned from them how to live today's Word and I pray that I have taught that to my daughters and grand children as well. The key is...do we pass those in need out of selfishness, or are we keeping our eyes open for the opportunity to help?! The question has been asked, what say you? peace, tom
Romans 8:31 NASB "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?"I believe in you! Today's verse is a great one to remember when it seems as if things are against us! He didn't make any grand speech or shout it from the mountains, he simply called me aside and said he believed in me! It was at a time when I felt all alone, Not able to make any decision for fear of failing and he could see that in my eyes. He put his hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear those words that gave me the strength to face life. God wants to do the same for each of us. To tell us that He loves us and is there for us no matter what! We just have to believe and listen for His Voice from the Holy Spirit and stand firm against those who oppose us! Stand firm in the Lord today! peace, tom
