Proverbs 11:14 NASB "Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counselors there is victory."Without them, we would just be a bunch of people running around! Today's Word is about guidance and those who lead us! Without the chiefs on the fire department, we would just be a bunch of firefighters running around with no real direction. At each fire, the chief plays an important role, a role of guidance to get the people out, the fire out and each of us back home safely. Having the proper guidance in our life is key. There are those who will lead us down the wrong path of life but there are those who will keep us safe and the best one to get guidance from is the Holy Spirit. He not only leads us well but also has our back so we don't go down the wrong path in life, that's of course if we are willing to follow where He leads us. Let's take hold of His Guidance to make sure we get back home safely! peace, tom

Proverbs 31:10 NASB "An excellent wife, who can find her? For her worth is far above jewels."I did! Today's verse is about finding an excellent wife who is worth far about jewels! She will be embarrassed and I'll probably get that "look" but it needs to be said. I have found a wife who is far above jewels. She puts up with my foolishness and times of craziness and still loves me despite my shortcomings. She is always there for me, supporting me, encouraging and most of all praying for me. In a time when most marriages are struggling, ours is stronger than ever because of her. I never knew it could be this good but you see, we have a three cord relationship where Jesus comes first, then each other. We have cried together, laughed till we cried, fallen down together and got back up and I know it's all because God blessed me with a wonderful wife. Happy Birthday Carolina! I love you! peace. tom
Ezekiel 36:25 NASB "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols."I wish it was that easy and maybe it is! Today's Word is about being clean or should I say getting clean! While doing the laundry the other day, ( yes real men do laundry!) I thought about how putting the filthy clothes in the washer, adding soap and fabric softener, is a lot like coming to Jesus. After being with Jesus, we come away cleaner than when we started, just like the laundry! The key of course is being willing to get clean. I have a favorite pair of jeans that I wear pretty much every day - they are comfortable but sooner rather than later, they need to be cleaned. In life, we maybe comfortable in how we live but we need to clean up our act from time to time and coming to Jesus, being honest with how we are living, and letting Him do the cleaning will have us looking good and who doesn't like that! peace, tom
Romans 12:10 ESV "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor."Didn't matter whether we were running, riding bikes, or walking! Today's verse is a great one to hold on to and do it! As a young boy, there was always the challenge to win the race. Whether walking, running or riding bikes, the goal was to win. As we grow older, we come across a verse like today's where it's about outdoing one another in showing honor! I wonder, when was the last time we lived in such a way that we brought others honor and out did them showing us honor?! Showing honor to others means that we think less about ourselves and more about them, sounds a lot like Jesus! Giving others the honor they deserve isn't that hard, but it takes a humbling of ourselves to honor others above us. Let's see if we can think of others first and then ourselves and not the other way around.Ready, set, go! peace, tom
Psalm 32:8 NASB "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you."It had been years since I laced them up! Today's verse is all we need to learn as we move forward in life! I love playing ice hockey and when the opportunity to join another league came, even at my age, I jumped at the chance. The only problem was that I wasn't sure if I could get out there and be a help to my team mates. I usually play defense so that meant skating backwards and doing in a manner where I wouldn't fall flat on my back. The first few attempts went well and so I kept it up. I know I will never be a star but I give my best. In life, we will have the opportunity to move forward (or backward is we play defense- lol) and the best advice we can get is today's verse. He will instruct us, teach us and keep His Eye upon us, we just need to trust Him. The question is, do we, do we really trust Him and follow where He leads us?! peace, tom
